Citizens employees log 237 hours of volunteering, donate $1,700 to community programs
The ACE organization recently announced that $1,700 in financial contributions were made in 2025 to Christmas for Children, Senior Graduates, Medical Charities of Floyd, Santa for Seniors, and the Floyd Antique Tractor Fun Run.
In November 2004, employees of Citizens Telephone Cooperative formed a nonprofit group. Named by employees of Citizens, the purpose of Associated Citizens Employees (ACE) is to support its members and invest in the future of area citizens through contributions, programs, and projects that encourage individual prosperity and build communities through charitable, educational, recreational, and technological partnerships.

In addition, Citizens employees sponsored and participated in projects such as deck building and bush trimming with Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing (FISH) and partners; provided entertainment and gifts to local nursing homes; held game days and meal prep events at local housing and community centers; and spread holiday cheer for local senior citizens in partnership with the Agency on Aging and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department.
Citizens employees also volunteered over 237 hours with organizations such as Live Work Eat Grow, Montgomery County Christmas Store, Habitat for Humanity Restore, Replenish Fest, and New Freedom Farm, just to name a few.
“The employees of Citizens go beyond their daily job responsibilities to volunteer and assist folks in need throughout the communities we serve. These are just a few ways that we connect. We have such a caring group of employees. After Hurricane Helene, our team helped wherever needed. At any time, you may find our team shoveling mud, clearing brush, building a porch, picking up trash, serving meals, and the list goes on,” stated Donna Smith, CEO & General Manager of Citizens.
“It is a privilege to work with such a caring group of people. Our employees are what set Citizens apart from other companies. We are dedicated to customer service and committed to technology.”
