Farmers Market readies for opening day of summer season
For many locals, the opening day is more than just a shopping trip — it's a seasonal reunion. After the quieter winter months, the return of the main season market signals the arrival of spring and a renewed connection to the region's farms and creative community.
The beginning of April signals the return of one of Floyd's most beloved community traditions — the main season opening day of the Floyd Farmers Market. On Saturday, April 4, locals and visitors will once again gather under the market pavilion in the heart of Floyd to celebrate local food, music, art, and community connection.

Held at the timber-frame Community Pavilion on South Locust Street, the market marks the beginning of its main season each spring, continuing weekly through the fall. The market operates on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the main season and serves as a central gathering place where farmers, artisans, and neighbors come together to share the bounty of the region.
Opening day brings a lively atmosphere as shoppers browse tables filled with fresh seasonal produce, homemade bread and pastries, and locally crafted goods. Early spring offerings often include fresh greens, herbs, baked goods, eggs, meat, jams and jellies, fresh mushrooms, baskets, hot coffee, local wine, and more. Vendors also feature handmade products ranging from pottery and jewelry to herbal remedies and body care items.
Our store offers a selection of lumber, roofing material, insulation, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and conveniently located five minutes outside the town of Floyd.
Beyond food and crafts, the market is known for its welcoming spirit and strong sense of community. Friends catch up over cups of coffee, families stroll together, and musicians provide a soundtrack of live local music beneath the pavilion. The gathering reflects Floyd's vibrant culture and the region's commitment to supporting local farms, artisans, and sustainable agriculture.
The market itself has become an important part of the town's identity. Since opening in 2009, the pavilion has served not only as a farmers' market but also as a venue for events, performances, and community celebrations. The space was built by SustainFloyd through collaboration among local residents, businesses, and organizations, reflecting the cooperative spirit that continues to define the market today.

Patrons are encouraged to arrive early, bring reusable bags, and take time to enjoy the music and conversation as much as the goods being offered.
