FCPR announces Buffalo Eggstravaganza 2026

Floyd County Parks and Recreation (FCPR) announced the dates last week for this year's Buffalo Eggstravaganza and is now accepting vendors for the event, which will be held at the high school.

The Buffalo Eggstravaganza is a family-friendly community event featuring Easter egg hunts, games, crafts, food trucks, activities for all ages, and more. It will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Floyd County High School (721 Baker St.), rain or shine.

This year is the third annual Buffalo Eggstravaganza organized by FCPR and the first at the high school. Previously, festivities have been at Citizens and at the Rec Park. Director Jacob Agee said that the team at FCPR is hopeful that changing the venue will allow for increased parking capacity, a few new features, and a smoother event overall. “We will have a photographer and an Easter Bunny on site to capture some memories for parents. Citizens has been gracious enough to volunteer some of their time to host a craft area for the kids as well,” he added.

Agee said the department is “so thankful for the support” of school officials, including Superintendent Jessica Cromer and FCHS Principal Barry Hollandsworth, and he bragged on FCPR’s Special Events Coordinator Destiny Webster for her hard work on events, including the Eggstravaganza, Spooky Street (Halloween), and Christmas parade.

He added that when he took over at FCPR director seven years ago, he “had no clue how much legwork goes into making an event like this successful. However, seeing both the kids and parents smile and enjoy themselves makes it all worth it. I get that warm, fuzzy feeling in my gut seeing the kids have a great time. That is by far the best part of my job.”
