Floyd joins in 100 School Celebration for Communities in Schools
Today, CIS-AH proudly serves over 40,000 students in 115 schools within 17 school divisions. Floyd joined the program at the start of this school year.
Communities In Schools of Appalachian Highlands (CIS-AH) is celebrating a major organization milestone: partnering with over 100 schools to support students, families, teachers, and educators across the region.
To mark this special occasion, CIS-AH Student Support Coordinators across the region held concurrent attendance awareness events within 115 schools. Students who were present at school on Thursday, Feb. 19, were rewarded with a special treat — a candy bar — for their commitment to coming to school.
CIS-AH implements innovative attendance programs designed to create excitement and enthusiasm around coming to school.

“We are thrilled to celebrate serving 115 schools across the region,” said Chase Stewart, President and Chief Executive Officer at CIS-AH. “By providing consistent and caring support, our Student Support Coordinators are improving student attendance, creating a positive school climate, building family relationships, providing basic needs, and so much more.”
CIS-AH was established in 2013 and began by serving two schools in Bristol Virginia Public Schools. In the years that followed, CIS-AH continued to gain community support, enabling the organization to expand across Southwest Virginia, and more recently, into Northeast Tennessee. Floyd joined the program at the start of this school year.
