Join the 2025 Christmas Light Competition

Of course, with so many sparkling displays popping up across Floyd, one question remains: "which one is the best?" There will be multiple rounds of voting for Best Decorated Home on the Floyd County Parks and Rec Facebook page, and one voting round to determine the Best Decorated Business.

Join the 2025 Christmas Light Competition

As I drive around town, it’s hard not to start to feel the magic of the season settling over Floyd. Glittering glow shines from lighted trees in front windows; porches are slowly coming alive as strings of colorful lights drape over railings and posts, and Red-Nosed Reindeer, blow-up Grinches, and snow-tipped evergreens fill yards.

Some homes display a candy-cane-lined sidewalk to guide visitors toward a doorway wrapped like one giant, festive present. And, who knows, maybe soon we’ll spot Santa’s sleigh perched on a rooftop.
