Lenten series kicks off this week at Zion
The series brings together community members for simple shared meals, scripture, and guided conversation focused on compassion, hospitality, and resilience.
Zion Lutheran invites the community to participate in a new Lenten series, "A Table Without Borders: Walking with Jesus in Uncertain Times," beginning Feb. 25 and continuing weekly through March 25.
The series brings together community members for simple shared meals, scripture, and guided conversation focused on compassion, hospitality, and resilience. Each gathering centers on the belief that tables are sacred spaces where people from all backgrounds can find belonging and hope.
“This series is about creating space for honest conversation, mutual care, and deeper connection,” said Pastor Wanda Childs. “In uncertain times, we believe sharing food and stories can help build understanding and strengthen our community.”
A special emphasis of the series is honoring immigrant and refugee stories and affirming the dignity of all people. Organizers note that many local families carry rich histories of migration, resilience, and faith.
The gatherings will take place:
Zion Lutheran Church, 635 Needmore Lane, NE Floyd, Va
Wednesdays Feb. 25, March 4, 11, 18, 25
Time: 5:30-6:45 p.m. Meal and Conversation around the table
