As you begin to think about fall and sweater weather, take some time to set aside anything you didn’t wear this year for Jessie Peterman Memorial Library’s Free Community Clothing Swap from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19.

A clothing swap is an event where participants can exchange gently used, clean clothing they no longer need and find new items in return. Clothing should be in good shape and not in need of mending. Participants can bring items that they plan to swap to the event or drop them off at the library (321 W. Main St.) during regular library hours beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, to Friday, Sept. 18. Any items left over will be donated to a local charity.

Library Program Coordinator Kerri Copus said the clothing swap is a prime opportunity to "clean out your closets and get rid of clothes you or your family no longer wear."

"You’ll be able to take home some new items for free while skipping the step of going through Goodwill or a thrift store," Copus said. "The library strives to encourage sustainable living in our community. Our previous swap events all had enthusiastic crowds with great responses to the variety of styles, name brands, and sizes available. We typically have items for men, women, and children, so please come and check it out."

This event is free and open to all. Attendees do not need to bring anything to participate. Clothes are not for sale. Acceptable items include clean, gently used clothing, shoes, or accessories such as jewelry, belts, or scarves (no undergarments, damaged items, beauty samples, etc.).
