To help make Christmas a little brighter this year, Floyd County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) staff and officers hosted its annual Shop with a Cop in Galax on Dec. 19.
The department shared photos and a statement on its Facebook page the following day:

The Floyd County High School track, which has been in use for more than two decades, is in need of resurfacing to ensure continued safety and long-term use. The $450,000 renovation project will benefit more than 120 student-athletes each season while also serving uses beyond school programs.
Buffalo Mountain Preserve expands by 975 acres
Through a partnership with The Conservation Fund, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has acquired land surrounding the three sides of the existing preserve, nearly doubling its size to 2,121 acres.
