Turner Family Farms readies for fifth year of hosting fall festivities

Brothers Jason and Wes Turner of Turner Family Farms are busy preparing for the fifth year of their Fall Festival, which includes a corn maze, food truck, pumpkin patch, tricycle tracks, and more.

For six weekends from late September until Nov. 1, the third-generation cattle farm on Franklin Pike invites community members to come make memories as the leaves change.

Jason and Wes officially became the owners of Turner Family Farms in 2017. The legacy property that came into the family in the 1950s had been in their grandparents' names — Sam and Gertrude — until then.

Jason said that the annual Fall Festival is the first time the farm has been used as an agrotourism operation. "We realized at the time cattle prices weren't much, and we had to do something to make the farm sustainable," he said. So, they started planting corn with a destination-worthy maze in mind.

Jason said there have been a couple of times when they have had to venture into the maze to rescue people who were lost. “It usually takes them about 45 minutes to get through. If in about an hour or so, they haven't come through, we go looking for them," he explained. "Most times they're pretty close to being out and they just need help with the final bit.” 

Jason and Wes said that they're most looking forward to is seeing everyone again. “You see people you might not see but a couple times a year, and they usually come out and talk and carry on.” One of the best moments that the brothers have witnessed is at the end of the season when they have an “all you can carry” pumpkin event. “The wife loading her husband up with pumpkins is pretty comical to watch,” they said.

In the past few years, the team at Turner Family Farms has also added a few other attractions to their Fall Festival, including a pumpkin patch, a tricycle track (which has both adult and children's tricycles), climbing tires to play on, a slide, and basketball hoops. 

The festivities for 2026 start Saturday, Sept. 26. Jason said that the corn maze will be open “the first three weekends, just Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m..” After those first three weeks, it will also be open on Friday, with Fridays and Saturdays introducing an after-dark flashlight maze. 

During the season, Wes operates the food truck, “The Vittle Wagon,” which uses the Turner Family Farm selection of meats to create the menu that includes smash burgers, bacon smash burger, taco smash burger, chicken sandwich, chicken tenders and fries, turkey wrap, thin sliced filet mignon steak and cheese. The Turners said that they also have been known to add surprises on their menu

“Sometimes we may do pulled pork barbecue, brisket, pork chop sandwiches, fish sandwiches, fish tacos, shrimp tacos. Sometimes we do hibachi. (It's) just kind of a surprise," Wes said. 

The Turner Brothers said that they are open to scheduling private groups, birthday events, field trips, school visits, homeschool groups, and more to come visit the Fall Festival. 

Tickets are $8, and kids three years and younger are admitted for free.
