Alum Ridge green boxes to be removed
Floyd County officials provided photos of scattered trash and what appears to be “evidence indicating that an individual (or individuals) may be intentionally attempting to lure or attract bears to the area.”
The green boxes on Alum Ridge will be temporarily removed due to bear activity.on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Floyd County officials provided photos of scattered trash and what appears to be “evidence indicating that an individual (or individuals) may be intentionally attempting to lure or attract bears to the area.” County Administrator Kim Chiddo said this discovery “does not help the situation at all.”
“The adjoining neighbors have been gracious as one will hold the green boxes, and the other has allowed the County and the public to utilize the perpetual easement,” Chiddo explained. She noted that the boxes are being removed in hope of the bear moving away from the area to find food elsewhere.
