Members of The Pride of Floyd County Marching Band are headed to Philadelphia, Pa., next Thanksgiving to perform in the 2026 Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will be broadcast live on Nov. 26. Floyd is the only school in the state this year to be selected to participate in the event.

In 2024, The Perfect Gift Shop served 586 shoppers, distributing more than 4,000 gifts to Floyd County families. As of Monday (Dec. 8), almost 90 shoppers have visited The Perfect Gift Shop this year.

Harris Street Project planned to start in spring 2026

Alongside plans to bring new housing options to the town, the Harris Street redevelopment will also include outdoor green spaces for community gatherings and businesses, and it will emphasize walkability with pedestrian walkways connecting the property to north Locust and west Main streets.

Christmas Parade rescheduled for this Sunday

The procession will stage at the high school, make its way down Baker Street to south Locust, and turn right at the stoplight to show off their floats and spread holiday cheer along Main Street. It's estimated that the parade will last between 60 and 90 minutes.

Schools, DJ’s make donations to Plenty!

Local students and DJ’s Drive-In recently made significant donations to Plenty! Farm and Food Bank to help them prepare for the busy holiday season.  Plenty! Vice President Amanda Gallimore Morgan said that local students at Floyd Elementary School surpassed their goal of collecting 500 boxes within the first week

Supervisors approve new Land Division Ordinance with 4-1 vote

Indian Valley Supervisor Kalinda Bechtold said while the revised version does not include protections of resources that she “would like to see,” it is important for the Board to have a new LDO in place as the previous one is “not reasonable” and “not functional, truly.”
