The Buffaloes weren’t going to give up that easily, though. At the beginning of the second quarter they fought back and brought the score to 8-7.

Unfortunately for the Buffaloes, the Cavaliers were just as eager and responded by scoring again each time the Buffaloes made progress. Though the Buffaloes stayed close all throughout the game, they were never able to take the lead. The game ended as a 52-49 loss for the Buffaloes, bringing their overall record for the season to 6-1.

Even though the Buffaloes had their first loss of the season, there was still a lot of good that came out of the night.

The Oct. 17 game was Pink Night in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. All the fans came decked out in pink in order to show support for those who have faced breast cancer. The rec league cheerleaders were able to join the varsity cheerleaders for the night, and showed their support with pink pom poms and bows.

The Floyd County High School marching band even came wearing pink plumes and gloves, and the Color Guard dressed in all pink.

The Buffaloes play away next on Oct. 24 against the James River Knights. This game will be the last away game scheduled in the regular season for the Buffaloes. Fans are hopeful that they can shift the momentum back and pull out a win.
