Chamber event showcases new businesses and community growth
Providing members with the opportunity to interact with one another and highlight their businesses is a core tenet of active chambers, Fett said.
More than 50 Floyd County Chamber of Commerce members attended this month’s Business After Hours event at Floyd Studios, a new local business, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The event was catered by another new business, The Charcuterie Bar.
Sponsored by the Chamber’s Young Professionals group and El Charro, the gathering provided Chamber members with a chance to connect, build relationships, and exchange business cards, according to Kathy Fett, Floyd Chamber’s executive director.
Business After Hours (BAH) events are open to all Chamber members, as well as invited guests. Fett said they regularly feature light refreshments and raffle prizes from one or more local businesses. Fett noted, “hosting an event allows a member to increase foot traffic, highlight their products and services, and position themselves as an engaged community leader. Additionally, the host gains significant visibility through the event's promotion.”
Providing members with the opportunity to interact with one another and highlight their businesses is a core tenet of active chambers, Fett said.
“By working with local leaders and organizations, the chamber helps attract new businesses, support entrepreneurs, and encourage job creation,” she said. “Chambers bring together business owners, nonprofits, schools, and government officials. This collaboration strengthens relationships and builds trust.” She added that participating in service projects, ribbon cuttings, and civic discussions helps chambers become “trusted and recognizable” community leaders.
The Floyd Chamber has many events planned for this year, including Shamrock Shenanigans, a fundraiser (March 14), and the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce Business Expo (March 18).
