On Saturday, March 14, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) was notified of a potential officer impersonation incident. FCSO issued a statement that evening to raise awareness in the community.
"An unknown female, described as approximately 30 years old with a dark complexion, wearing slacks and a button-up shirt, approached a Floyd County citizen near the intersection of Daniels Run and U.S. 221 North," FCSO said. "The individual reportedly requested identification while claiming to be an officer with Homeland Security."
FCSO noted that the female left the area without further incident once the citizen questioned their identity. The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to remain cautious and report any similar encounters immediately.
