Floyd clinches 26-21 win against James River to advance post-season run

The Buffaloes will face the number two seed Gretna Hawks at Gretna High School next Friday (Nov. 21) for the region semifinals. The Hawks have a similar in season record as the Buffaloes. It is expected that this will be a very intense game on both sides.

The Floyd County Buffaloes Varsity football faced the James River Knights at home on Friday, Nov. 14, for an intense first playoff game of the season.

The Buffaloes started off the game with a rushing touchdown from quarterback Sam Phillips and a successful point after bringing it to 7-0. The Knights fought right back, also successfully rushing a touchdown to bring the score to 6-7. Unfortunately for the Knights, they missed the extra point to accompany it. 

The Buffaloes ended the first quarter with another touchdown and extra point to bring the score to 14-6.

The second quarter started with a touchdown for the Knights and an additional two points to tie up the score at 14-14. With his third rushing touchdown of the night, quarterback Sam Phillips brought the score up to 20-14 to go into the half.

The Knights were determined to get the lead back though, and as the third quarter started they made a touchdown and extra point to put them in the lead 21-20.
