Griffith visits Floyd to discuss needs

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-Salem) spent some time in Floyd last week meeting with local officials including the Economic Development Authority's Ryan Baker and Melissa Cox, Director of Community and Economic Development Lydeana Martin, and Vince Hatcher of Hollingsworth and Vose.
Martin explained that the group shared information about local needs, such as housing, jobs, and upgrades to the Public Service Authority system, as well as pending grant applications for those sectors and others. Additionally, Martin added, Hatcher detailed some new technologies and products "made right here in Floyd that will help save energy for any business needing air or liquid filtration." Griffith said in a statement on Facebook that the project ideas discussed during the July 6 meeting will "hopefully ... boost economic activity, attract businesses and provide additional opportunities."
