June Bug Center unveils spring lineup: Murder Mystery, Junie B. Jones, SpongeBob, and more
The spring 2026 Musical Theatre for Teens class will guide students through the full musical theatre process — from learning vocals and choreography to developing characters and building confidence onstage — all while working together to bring the world of Bikini Bottom to life.
The June Bug Center announced this week that its spring musical will travel under the sea and feature an assorted cast of characters in "SpongeBob the Musical: Youth Edition."

With its message of friendship, optimism, and believing in yourself, this show is as meaningful as it is fun.
“This show is packed with incredible music, colorful characters, big choreography, and so many moments for our performers to shine,” the official announcement said. “It’s an ensemble-driven musical that celebrates friendship, bravery, and believing in yourself.”

Ideal for teens who love to sing, dance, act, and collaborate, this production is designed to challenge performers while celebrating creativity and teamwork. A strong ensemble is key to making this show truly spectacular, and we’re excited to build an incredible cast this spring.
Registration is now open to be a part of the show through the spring semester’s Musical Theatre for Teens program. Officials at JBC are confident the class will fill up quickly and say the show “has the potential to be one of the most exciting productions we’ve ever put on.”
While tickets are not on sale yet, the spring Musical Theatre for Teens musical is typically performed for the community during the first two weeks of June. Check the website (below) for updates.

Bright Star — Inspired by a true story, “Bright Star” is a sweeping, heartfelt musical featuring a Tony-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Set against the vibrant backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and 1940s, this emotional tale explores love, loss, and the transformative power of redemption. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past — and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. Proceeds from this production will benefit the Humane Society of the New River Valley.

Junie B. Jones Toothless Wonder — Junie B. Jones is having a rough day – no, scratch that, a rough week! She’s about to lose her first tooth, and everyone’s been invited to a birthday party except her. What’s an “almost six-year-old” to do? Return to Junie B.’s charming and witty world in this family-friendly comedy. This show is presented by the June Bug Center’s Drama Society program.
