Red Rooster closes Yellow Hen Child Care

Red Rooster Coffee Roaster announced the closure of its in-house childcare operation on Friday, which provided licensed daycare services to employees since 2018.

Throughout the past eight years, Polseno-Hensley said, Yellow Hen served more than 20 families, and 95% of the children who attended the daycare belonged to Red Rooster employees.
“We made it available to some families outside Red Rooster who fit a very narrow set of needs,” Polseno-Hensley said.
He explained in the closure announcement video, which was posted to Facebook the morning of Sept. 18, that officials have realized it is time to say goodbye because of the unexpected passing of Susan Kay Paxon. Plus, Polseno-Hensley noted, “most of the kids have grown up.”
In addition to Paxon, Yellow Hen had many “amazing employees,” including Ella Zander (the center’s first director who worked to get the facility licensed), Helena Kiko-Cozy, and Mya Avincini, Polseno-Hensley said.
The announcement of Yellow Hen’s closure came just one day after Amy Goff confirmed the planned closure of Copper Hill Child Care unless a buyer comes forward by the end of October.
