Sheriff Brian Craig announces retirement at end of current term
Craig has held the role since Jan. 1, 2016. He was elected during the November 2015 election following the retirement of Shannon Zeman.
Floyd County Sheriff Brian Craig announced on Sunday that he will not seek re-election after his current term expires on Dec. 31, 2027, and he plans to retire.

Craig said via a statement on Facebook on Sept. 27, "Serving as your Sheriff has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am eternally grateful to the citizens of Floyd County for your trust and support. I am especially proud of the men and women of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. Their dedication to our community is truly commendable. I am honored to work with them each and every day."
He noted that much thought and consideration has gone into his decision to retire, and he is "fully committed to serving Floyd County and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office through the end of my term," he said.
