“Supporting this project is about investing in students and the community they represent,” said Blake Edwards, President and CEO of Skyline National Bank. “Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of the combination of The Bank of Floyd and Grayson National Bank, and the subsequent creation of Skyline National Bank. When our directors were considering this combination, one of their guiding thoughts was the belief that the combined organization would be financially stronger and therefore have the ability to do things at a scale that could have a more meaningful impact in all of our communities.

"This donation, along with the recent construction of our new Floyd branch and partnership with Floyd County, which allowed them to expand county offices to our former bank building, are all perfect examples of what they had in mind," Edwards said. "We are excited to make this donation and extremely proud of our hometown students and all they have accomplished.”

Floyd County High School’s track and cross-country programs have achieved notable accomplishments over the years. In recent seasons, including during the 2025 cross country season, teams and individual athletes have earned state and region titles, relay championships, and individual honors across cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. Numerous school records have been broken, and several athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.

Local students express their appreciation for all donations that have been made to renovate the track. Floyd High School junior Cedar Heartway said that "it's really incredible to see the community supporting Floyd High school athletics. The track and cross country teams have had a lot of success in the past few years, including several state titles, and Skyline helping replace the track will help continue the success."

Jessica Cromer, Superintendent of Floyd County Schools, said the school system is "incredibly grateful" for Skyline's support. “Their contribution is an investment in our students and our track program, but just as importantly, it supports the health and vitality of Floyd County," she added.

While Skyline National Bank’s donation represents a significant step toward the project’s funding goal, additional community support is still needed to fully fund the renovation, according to project officials.

Donations may be made through Floyd County High School, designated for the track renovation project. For more information about the project or how to contribute, contact Jon Beegle at (540) 250-6587.
