DownRiver Collective is one of the most electrifying new forces in American roots music. Winners of the 2024 IBMA Momentum Band award, DownRiver Collective blurs the lines between classic folk tradition and forward-leaning acoustic innovation. Their music holds a raw and simple truth — yet it arrives with gripping intensity, soulful intention, and fearless originality. The result feels bold and new, yet strangely familiar… the kind of sound that stays with you long after the last note fades.

It doesn’t take too long to realize Willie Williams is the real thing. It is evident in his guitar lines, where the emotion of the blues, enriched by the sophistication of jazz, flows with the power of rock and roll. His instrumental virtuosity and situational awareness make him an invaluable bandmate- most prominently proven by his recruitment into Great Southern, the late, great Dickey Betts’ continuation of the Allman Brothers tradition.
While exceptionally skilled in revitalizing archetypal Southern rock, his original music reveals a compelling voice of his own. His songs range from roadhouse workouts to contemplative blues, with lyrics unpretentiously poetic and down to earth, touched with humor and sympathy. His singing is effortlessly melodic and warmly conversational.
