Thrive Hive launches cafe at Floyd Fitness
Since the business idea placed first in the annual Floyd C4 Business Development Series last year, Pittman and Miller have been working hard to bring their vision to life.
A new juice bar and coffee shop opened last week inside Floyd Fitness. Owned by Mitchell Pittman and Karina Miller, the Thrive Hive Coffee and Juice Bar is open from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Since the business idea placed first in the annual Floyd C4 Business Development Series last year, Pittman and Miller have been working hard to bring their vision to life.
Pittman said the idea of bringing a cafe into the gym came from Miller. He explained there's a positive "synergy" that comes from offering smoothies and healthy treats using local ingredients at a place that already focuses on health, such as the gym.
Miller said that having a juice bar has always been a dream of hers. “I've had the chance to do a lot of traveling all over the world, and I've always loved going and hanging out at juice bars or smoothie bars or coffee shops — just (reveling in) the environment that it provides and the feeling that you get when you're there."
Pittman said fine-tuning the space for the cafe, building it out, and finding the perfect juice recipes has been "quite the process," but he's happy to do it all with his partner, he said.
The Floyd Country Store, home of the famous Friday Night Jamboree! Featuring a wide variety of locally sourced crafts and merchandise, stop in and browse. Enjoy lunch or a sweet treat from our Café or Soda Fountain while you're there. Live music 5 days a week!
Pittman and Miller, who recently had a child together, said starting a business isn't entirely dissimilar to having a child. "The idea of the juice bar was in my mind before the baby came, so I kind of had two babies," Miller said.
Thrive Hive Coffee and Juice Bar is located directly inside Floyd Fitness (119 Parkview Rd.). Pittman and Miller plan to eventually add Saturdays to their regular hours.
