In the 2023 Christmas season, thanks to the support of generous donors and people in our community, Christmas For Children was able to help 153 children have a brighter holiday. Those children were from 65 Floyd County families.

Christmas for Children opens applications for 2025 Angel Tree

With joyful hearts, the nonprofit organization Christmas For Children is now accepting applications for the local Angel Tree program for the 2025 Christmas season.

Anyone with school-aged children (unmarried) who receives government assistance, is considered low income, or has fallen on temporary hard times, may apply to benefit from the program.

Requirements for eligibility:

  • Parents/Guardians must be Floyd County residents
  • Children must be aged birth through high school senior (unmarried)
  • Parents/Guardians must be of low income or experiencing short-term financial issues.

Parents/Guardians can begin the application process online at www.christmasforchildrenfloyd.com or can apply in-person on the days listed below.

All applicants must verify eligibility at an in-person interview. Come on the earliest date that is most convenient for you. Please be aware that childcare is not provided during interview times.

  • Location: Reaching Out For Jesus Ministries (across from CVS Pharmacy), located at 800 E. Main St. Floyd, VA 24091
  • Application Interview Schedule:
    • Monday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
    • Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 2-6 p.m.
    • Thursday, Oct. 9, from 2-6 p.m.
    • Saturday, Oct. 11, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Information you MUST bring to your interview:
    • Written list of all clothing and shoe sizes for all your children
    • Photo identification of parent/guardian (driver’s license, etc.)
    • Proof of residence such as written lease, utility bill, etc., showing physical address (P.O. Boxes will not be accepted)
    • Proof of all current household income for the past four weeks (pay stubs, child support, Social Security/SSI, TANF, SNAP, Medicaid, etc.) (Medicaid cards can be used as Proof of Income; will not be accepted as identification.)
    • Identification of all household children aged birth to high school senior. May use one of the following: a.) DSS eligibility letter (Please bring your current DSS eligibility letter as DSS will not make copies) OR b.) a letter from the school your child attends OR c.) your child’s current hot lunch qualification letter OR d.) your child’s most current report card.
