County recognizes Election Worker Appreciation Day ahead of November election
Early voting for the Nov. 4 General Election started in September and can be completed at the Floyd County Courthouse, 100 E. Main St. The public is asked to use the back entrance to the courthouse.

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors adopted a proclamation at its most recent meeting to recognize Election Worker Appreciation Day, which is Nov. 11 and is recognized statewide.
Chair of the Floyd County Electoral Board Paul Kitchen of the Little River District thanked the Board for adding the proclamation to their agenda on Sept. 23 and invited them to attend Election Worker training sessions that are scheduled for later this month.
“We would like to give them a copy of the proclamation that you will sign this evening and also have you witness them as they are sworn into their office,” Kitchen said, adding that he will send Supervisors the details of the training sessions. “And, thank you. We really do appreciate everything you’re doing to support safe, secure, and accurate elections here in Floyd County.”
The Election Worker Appreciation Day proclamation was read into the record by Supervisor Linda DeVito Kuchenbuch of the Little River District. It reads in part:
“Whereas, free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and their success depends on the dedication and integrity of election workers across Floyd County…
“… Election workers serve as guardians of the democratic process, ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot safely, securely, and efficiently.
“… These individuals – whether full-time officials or temporary election day officers – work long hours under intense pressure, often facing logistical challenges, public scrutiny, and even threats to their safety.
“… During heightened political tensions, Floyd County election work has risen to the occasion with resilience and professionalism.
“… Let us honor their service, celebrate their commitment, and ensure they receive the respect and support they deserve.”
