Ed and Ethel's Fine Jewelry opens on Main Street
The Brinsons chose the name Ed and Ethel’s, Brooke said, because they “really wanted the business to be the way that (Ed and Ethel) lived and to treat people that way.” They were her “grandparents that didn’t have to be” after they retired in Floyd from the coast.
Ed and Ethel’s Fine Jewelry held its grand opening in Floyd on Saturday, Nov. 1. Owned by Floyd native Brooke Brinson and her husband, Chase Brinson, Ed and Ethel’s is named after a couple that lived in Floyd and took on the role of grandparents to Brooke during their later years.
The Floyd shop is the second location of Ed and Ethel’s, which was founded by the Brinsons in 2020 after they both lost their jobs in the national jewelry industry due to the pandemic. At that point, they felt it was time to pursue their dream of owning their own jewelry business. They started “really doing the work toward doors that seemed closed,” Brooke said. “We really attest everything to God… and the community has really supported us.”
The old school building converted into three floors of almost all types of fabrics available, and craft supplies! Plus - an extra building of upholstery fabrics and supplies!

The Brinsons chose the name Ed and Ethel’s, Brooke said, because they “really wanted the business to be the way that (Ed and Ethel Nuckols) lived and to treat people that way.” They were her “grandparents that didn’t have to be” after they retired in Floyd from the coast.
“We want to treat people right, we want to be the best jewelers that we possibly can be, and we’re open to what that path forward looks like,” Brooke said. “And, we plan to be here in Floyd for decades to come.”
