‘Floyd’s finest’ to head to Philly for 2026 Thanksgiving Day Parade

Members of The Pride of Floyd County Marching Band are headed to Philadelphia, Pa., next Thanksgiving to perform in the 2026 Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will be broadcast live on Nov. 26. Floyd is the only school in the state this year to be selected to participate in the event.

Band Director Jeffrey Gill, who started working with the Floyd County High School Band in 2024, announced in August that the band was selected by the Rural Band Directors’ Alliance to join the Rural All-Star Band, giving Floyd students the opportunity to opt-in to a “once-in-a-lifetime chance to represent our community and marching band on a national stage.”

Gill said earlier this month that preparations have already begun for next year’s big event. “From doing fundraiser events to make the trip more affordable for our students, to making sure their marching is in tip-top shape, our students have been putting in hours of work to make the most of this opportunity,” he said.
