A collaborative effort among the Town of Floyd, Floyd County, local businesses and nonprofits, and homeowners, this year’s Spooky Street was the fifth iteration of the event, which started as a drive-thru opportunity for kids to enjoy during the pandemic.
Thousands of community members descended upon Oxford Street on Friday evening to show off their costumes for candy and other goodies.

In addition to candy, trick-or-treaters received packets of sunflower seeds, light-up bracelets, age-appropriate books, crafts, and more.

The Floyd County Parks and Recreation Department hosted a costume contest, had refreshments, and set up activities for the community to participate in, including cornhole and chances to guess-the-weight of a pumpkin, in Gardner’s parking lot.
Popular costumes included inflatables (aliens, dachshunds, and dinosaurs), superheroes (Superman and Spider-Man), characters (from IT, Scream, Bluey, Scooby Doo, and Star Wars), mythical creatures (fairies, unicorns, and wizards), and animals.
