Homegrown flooring company celebrates showroom opening

Floyd Floor Co. held its official ribbon cutting on Fox Street last week after opening its showroom doors during the summer.
Richard Schoonover and Grace McCutchan launched the idea behind Floyd Floor Co. in late-2024, McCutchan said, with the simple goal of bringing “high-quality flooring options and installation services to our hometown.”
“After years in the flooring industry, Richard knew Floyd deserved a showroom where folks could see, touch, and compare premium materials without driving an hour or two out of town,” she said.

Schoonover is also the founder of Paragon Home Builders, which the Floyd Floor Co. website states started as a handyman venture and was built into a business with a “reputation for quality craftsmanship from the ground up — starting with floors.”
“Still owned and operated by (Schoonover,) Paragon is the sister company to Floyd Floor Co.,” the website states. “Together, they bring a seamless experience to homeowners — from foundation to finish.”
McCutchan said the team at Floyd Floor Co. is “small but mighty” with Schoonover bringing decades of experience of installation to the table as a licensed contractor and herself handling showroom operations and serving as the Director of Marketing and Sales.

While residential projects have been the company’s “bread and butter,” McCutchan said, their team “can handle a wide range of projects whether it’s a tiled bathroom remodel, installing luxury vinyl plank flooring (LVP) in a commercial boutique, refinishing real hardwood in a new home build, or laying carpet in a cozy loft cabin.”
Having the community turn out for the official ribbon cutting, McCutchan said, made her and Schoonover feel excited, grateful, and like all of the hard work to get to this point was worthwhile.
Floyd Floor Co.’s still-growing showroom is located at 203 Fox St., Unit A, and it is open from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Fridays. The showroom is also open by-appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays by calling (540) 302-2858.
McCutchan said if customers don’t see exactly what they’re looking for, to let them know — “we will go the extra mile to source the right options and help you find the perfect fit,” she said.
