Pets of the Week
While black cats in need of permanent homes often face black cat bias (BCB) and are often viewed as "bad omens," they have just as much love to give as any other feline friend. Floyd County Humane Society foster cats Elvis and Onyx are perfect examples.

True to his name, Elvis is a hunk a hunk of burning love. With a sleek black coat and a little white patch on his chest, and a chatty song to sing, this handsome man was found as a stray and is as sweet as can be. All FCHS volunteers say Elvis is a lover boy. He is about five years old, neutered, negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and up to date on vaccines.

Onyx is solid black with vibrant yellow eyes, young, neutered, also tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and is up to date on vaccines. Onyx was a bit timid when he first came to FCHS and has tried hard to make sense of what shelter life is all about. He has really become a friendly boy and is a cat of few words for those who don't appreciate "chatty" cats.
