Historical Society Museum opens for 2026 season
The exhibit focuses on "patriotic service and that, traditionally, has been certain military,” said Gino Williams, president of the Floyd County Historical Society.
The Floyd County Historical Society Museum reopened for the season last week, displaying its new exhibit, "250 Years of Patriotism and Service." The exhibit focuses on the military service of our ancestors and pays homage to America’s 250th birthday.
Two rooms in the front of the museum display the items donated or loaned to the museum. Everything from photographs to uniforms, lunch boxes to letters, rifles and more are on display.
We offer locally sourced, insect and rot resistant hemlock, and lots of other species for just about any project.
We also can provide firewood, kindling, mulch, sawdust, and shavings.
Inside we produce paneling and flooring in various, often rustic local woods.

“Most everything in here has either been donated and a few things are on loan from people around the county,” Floyd County Historical Society Office Manager Linda Wiseman said.

The exhibit focuses on "patriotic service and that, traditionally, has been certain military,” said Gino Williams, president of the Floyd County Historical Society. “Eventually there will be a couple of cabinets for civil service here too. This was also an opportunity to show some of the things that are in the collection here at the society too.”

Williams also asks county residents to look through their old photographs or memorabilia to donate or loan even after the museum's initial opening.
“We don't have anything from Iraq, and there is very little of the Mexican war,” Williams said. “We have tried to touch on everything, and we really are looking for photographs that we can take a copy of or letters. The whole bit.”
An Open House for the new Exhibit will be held on Saturday, April 25, from 1-3 p.m. so Floyd Countians and tourists can come look at the historical displays.
