Pet of the Week

There is some age on Sonny, but his heart and body act like a young man, and he would love a family that is outdoorsy with older kids to hike with, but no cats (he is much too interested in them).

Pet of the Week
Young-at-heart Sonny is ready to find his forever home.

Meet Floyd County Humane Society foster dog Sonny. He and his sibling Velma were surrendered to Floyd Animal Control in 2024; they ended up being separated by adoption, and Velma made her way to FCHS.

As luck would have it, a volunteer from FCHS discovered that Sonny had turned up at a neighboring county rescue, and the organization felt called to bring Sonny back to Floyd.

Once in the care of local volunteers, health issues began to plague Sonny, and it was discovered he had a mass on his spleen. After many screenings and the search for a foster home to care for Sonny after surgery, the big day came.

Volunteers waited patiently for days for the biopsy results to return, giving the wonderful news that Sonny was healthy and all tumors were benign. He is now all healed, feeling great and seeking his next adventure.
