The annual Floyd Rotary Dog Show returns on Sunday, June 7, at Warren G. Lineberry Memorial Park, bringing together dogs, families, and the community for a Floyd light-hearted and entertaining tradition.

Hosted by Rotary Club of Floyd County for the seventh year, the event welcomes dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities — including mixed breeds — for an afternoon focused on fun, laughter, and community spirit rather than a formal competition. Elena-Marie Weissenboeck, a current Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine student will be this year’s judge.
Registration begins at 1:15 p.m., with the dog show starting at 2 p.m.

Spectators are encouraged to attend, and there is no admission charge to watch. Participation is open to adults and children ages 9 and older. Dogs must remain on leash and be up to date on vaccinations. The registration fee is $5 per class entered.

This year’s classes include crowd favorites such as: Most Excited Dog, Best Trick, Best Owner-Dog Look-a-like, Cutest Puppy Under 1 Year, Best Costume, Best Mixed Breed Dog, and Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home. Ribbons will be awarded in each category.

Organizers emphasize that the Floyd Rotary Dog Show is designed as a relaxed, family-friendly, fun fundraiser that celebrates the joy dogs bring to the community. Because the event can be crowded and stimulating, dogs should be well-socialized, under control, and comfortable around people and other dogs.

“This event has become a fun community tradition where people can laugh, connect, and enjoy an afternoon with their dogs in a relaxed setting,” Laura Pynn, Floyd Rotary member and one of the event organizers, said. “Whether your dog is highly trained, a lovable mixed breed/mutt, delightfully goofy, or somewhere in between, friendly and well-socialized dogs are welcome at the Floyd Rotary Dog Show.”

The event is a fundraiser for a potential future dog park in Floyd, should a community-supported or local government project eventually take shape. It will take place rain or shine in the town park located at 250 South Locust Street in Floyd.
