Rural Reflections: 'Breath'

This week, we examine the most simple of actions: our breath. Every second is our second chance, but also we’re ALL bound to be imperfect at some point.

Breath

I guess they’ve never misstepped,
or in other ways over prepped.
I guess they counted every breath.
And when the Summer ends,
they live in fear for death.
They say they’ve never tripped,
made mistakes,
well that’s a lie, inept.
It’s straight from the sword,
that’s the words that misstepped.
That’s division,
that pulls us from God.
The notes of evil invention,
the words of laud.
That’s a breath of poison,
tricks and fraud.
That’s because only one,
one never misstepped.
As we wander that darkness,
under pressure, under slept.
