Floyd County Public Schools (FCPS) Superintendent Jessica Cromer explained that the move to a Friday ceremony was decided upon due to feedback from students and families. “Many colleges have graduations on Saturday and this way families have the opportunity to attend more celebrations,” she said.

“School buses handle snow differently than personal vehicles due to their size,” Cromer said. “Because buses are rear-wheel drive, an empty bus can be dangerous to drive in snow because it lacks the necessary weight to stay grounded."
