The Perfect Gift Shop is open for the 2025 season
In 2024, The Perfect Gift Shop served 586 shoppers, distributing more than 4,000 gifts to Floyd County families. As of Monday (Dec. 8), almost 90 shoppers have visited The Perfect Gift Shop this year.
Since 2017, The Perfect Gift Shop has been helping Floyd County celebrate December holidays. The shop, which opened for its 2025 season on Saturday, Dec. 6, allows children, ages 5 to 15, to experience the thrill of selecting gifts for their loved ones.
The pop-up shop provides gift certificates to all children and developmentally delayed adults in Floyd County. This year, the shop is located in the old Floyd County Rec Center, located at 209 Fox St. NW, with daily hours until Dec. 23. It follows Floyd County Public Schools’ closures in the case of inclement weather.

Hours of operation are from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on weekdays (Mondays through Fridays), and from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). The nonprofit’s volunteers and officials say that they “respect and serve” all special occasions in December, including birthdays and 29 holidays.
Founded by Jean Woods in 2017, the pop up holiday shop is “truly a community-sponsored event,” according to the nonprofit’s officials and organizers. Local organizations contribute in many ways to keep the shop operational, putting in hours year-round alongside volunteers and crafters, who make blankets, scarves, gift baskets, and cloth bags for gift wrapping for the holiday store each year. Monetary donations are used to purchase gifts for shoppers to choose from.
Volunteers are still being accepted for the 2025 season. Volunteers act as “elves,” helping to escort shoppers (so that gifts remain a surprise for family members) and wrap presents.
