This year, Santa Claus granted Floyd Times a special wish to share letters from second graders in Floyd County Public Schools with the community to help spread holiday cheer.
The Perfect Gift Shop is open for the 2025 season
In 2024, The Perfect Gift Shop served 586 shoppers, distributing more than 4,000 gifts to Floyd County families. As of Monday (Dec. 8), almost 90 shoppers have visited The Perfect Gift Shop this year.
Harris Street Project planned to start in spring 2026
Alongside plans to bring new housing options to the town, the Harris Street redevelopment will also include outdoor green spaces for community gatherings and businesses, and it will emphasize walkability with pedestrian walkways connecting the property to north Locust and west Main streets.

Christmas Parade rescheduled for this Sunday
The procession will stage at the high school, make its way down Baker Street to south Locust, and turn right at the stoplight to show off their floats and spread holiday cheer along Main Street. It's estimated that the parade will last between 60 and 90 minutes.
